Sharon Fire & Rescue proudly protects the Township and Village of Sharon as well as contracted service to Boone County FPD#4 in Illinois. Fire Suppression and Paramedic Level-Emergency Medical Services are provided through a combination of Paid per Call/Volunteers and MEDIC 391 – a two person staffed Firefighter/Paramedic ambulance.

Organized in 1899, Sharon Fire & Rescue has been a progressive department throughout its history.  The department is equally funded by the Township and Village of Sharon and bases its operation from one station located at 182 Park Ave. in Sharon. Our personnel are well trained, exceed state minimum standards, are well equipped and funded by tax-based support of our governing bodies.

Beginning in 2020 residents voted to fund MEDIC 391 in response to the nationwide shortage of volunteer responders. The MEDIC 391 program serves Sharon and Darien and utilizes an ambulance from one of those agencies on a rotating basis. The MEDIC 391 program has delivered a higher level of care, faster response and relieved the burden on our volunteer staff. The fire and EMS departments of Sharon and Darien work independently, and enjoy a close working relationship backing each other up on all types of responses. On large incidents, we depend on a MABAS (Mutual Aid Box Alarm System) to bring any resources needed to an incident.
