Job Overview
The Town of Sharon, a small farming community with a population of approximately 850, is seeking a Town Clerk/Treasurer.
The purpose of the Town Clerk/Treasurer is to carry out the duties of Clerk/Treasurer as defined by Wisconsin State Statutes and the Town Code of Ordinances. This position reports directly to the Town Board of Supervisors.
The ideal candidate will have high quality interpersonal skills and the ability to deal directly with the public in various settings, including public meetings and elections, while maintaining a courteous and positive attitude. This candidate should have the ability to manage multiple projects and maintain timely project completion.
This is a part-time position of approximately 40-60 hours per month with a salary range of $20,000 - $22,000 per year. Flexibility in this position is key to managing calendar events and mandated timelines. Must be available to attend monthly evening board meetings.
This candidate must be able to work with Word, Excel and Quickbooks (or have some accounting knowledge).

Duties
- Conduct elections.
- Perform accounts payable & accounts receivable functions, including account reconciliation & payroll processing.
- Collaborate with external auditors during audits.
- Prepare & post board meeting agendas & minutes.
- Publish & post ordinances and resolutions.
- Answer phone, emails & correspondence from residents.
- Oversee building permits.
- Issue liquor & operators' licenses.
- Prepare & collect property taxes.
- Manage the town website.
